Peace and Gender

Based on our previous research on peace with a gender approach and feedback we received on related Voices from DEMOS episodes, it is evident that the need for studies from a gender perspective on peace activism carried out by civil society, focusing on women’s and LGBTI+ experiences is far from satisfied. With this project starting in August 2020 as a continuation of our research focus on peace and gender, we aim to document from a critical and intersectional perspective the experiences of women’s and LGBTI+ organizations active in the field of peace activism to map out their needs and demands. In this manner we hope not only to contribute to the visibility of gendered peace activism, but also to come up with recommendations to various stakeholders including other human rights organizations, donors, and local authorities in support of women’s and LGBTI+ peace efforts.
